Reserve specific seats on your venue seating map by adding holds. For example, you could block off sections for a socially distanced event or hold seats for staff members. If you want to hold seats for specific attendees to purchase, create an access code for them.
This article covers adding holds to seats on an existing reserved-seating venue map and creating an access code so that specific attendees can buy held seats. If you haven't set up reserved seating yet, see Create a reserved seating event. If you want to remove reserved seating entirely, see Remove reserved seating from an event.
Add a hold
- Go to Holds in your venue designer.
- Select Add hold. Click the hold name to rename it, or click the colored circle to change its color. Giving holds different colors helps you tell them apart — attendees never see your hold colors.
- Click the seats you want to hold. Select entire sections, rows, or tables by clicking their label. Hold Shift to select multiple seats or sections, then click and drag to select an area.
- Click the + next to the hold name to add your selected seats. Added seats change to the hold's color.
To remove a hold from seats, select the seats, then click the – next to the current hold.
Create an access code for a hold
If you want to hold seats for certain attendees to purchase:
- Hover over the hold and click the padlock icon to open Access controls.
- Select New access code.
- Enter a name for the code, like "Staff" or "Earlybird."
- Select Save.
Attendees enter the code at checkout to buy tickets for those held seats.
Common questions
Will attendees be able to see which seats are on hold?
No. Hold colors and labels are only visible to you in the venue designer — attendees see held seats as unavailable, not as a specific hold.
Can I hold seats without giving out an access code?
Yes. A hold on its own removes seats from sale to the general public. You only need an access code if you want specific attendees to purchase those seats.
